Hands down, one of my favorite parts of my job is getting to meet my couples before their wedding day. Your engagement session is one of those moments that are incredibly helpful in establishing a relationship with your wedding photographer. It’s a time when we get to meet face-to-face, spend time getting to know each other, and get more comfortable being in front of the camera.
Then come game day (aka your wedding) there is nothing that will stand in your way. Alexa and Matt’s North Ave Beach Chicago engagement photos were the perfect way for us to finally meet. They even brought along a very important family member too 😉
Their Love Story
Alexa and Matt met at the University of Michigan around 6 years ago through a mutual friend. It was from that moment, that their connection just grew stronger from there. Their first date had them end up going to eat sushi, the first time for Alexa. Luckily, Matt was there to help guide her on chopstick etiquette, and from that point on they have been together. They enjoy traveling around the world, exploring new places, and eating at new restaurants to expand their palette. They wanted to experience this sort of life forever, and now they are. M’kay crying right now.
For their engagement session, it was important for Alexa and Matt to feel comfortable in front of the camera. That’s the goal, right? Making sure that we are able to capture their love authentically and true to them is my main goal, so we got right to work – yes!!
North Ave Beach Chicago Engagement Photos
In Chicago, there are a ton of different engagement locations. So many, I can’t even keep count at this point. However, I do have some top favorites that I like to give my couples options to go to, just in case their having some trouble deciding. You can read more about those top photo locations here.
Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo
We started their engagement sesh at the Nature Boardwalk at Lincoln Park Zoo. This beautiful boardwalk is exactly what you’ll need if you’re looking for gorgeous greenery and tons of beautiful scenery. It’s a way to escape the hustle and bustle of Chicago city life and step away to a small bit of peace.
Matt and Alexa share their adorable pup Scout together, so bringing her along to their engagement session was an absolute must. I always recommend that if you do decide to bring a pet to your engagement session, just make sure you bring someone along to watch them while you’re taking photos. That way you can relax when it’s time to focus on you two and your connection🤍
North Avenue Beach
Sunset began approaching and we made our way to our second location, North Avenue Beach. At North Ave Beach, you have the best of both worlds. Stunning water views along with the city skyline on the horizon. It’s one of my favorite locations to shoot engagement sessions! Alexa and Matt did a quick outfit change and we spent the remainder of the night enjoying our views. Alexa and Matt cracked open a few cold ones, Montucky Cold Snacks, to be exact before watching blue hour take over in the final moments of their engagement session.
