Abbie & Connor’s City View Loft Chicago Wedding

It was a beautiful day celebrating Abbie and Connor’s love story. I arrived that afternoon as Abbie and her bridesmaids were finishing getting ready. Mimosas and heart-shaped glasses abound, we captured so many beautiful candid memories during this time. Including when Abbie’s dress zipper BROKE, and they had to call the emergency number for Weddings 826. Kudos to this bridal team as they were quick and responsive to soother everyone’s worries and offer a unique solution that got her zipped up right quick! RUN to Weddings 826, don’t walk, if you need your wedding dress!

After getting ready, it was important to both Abbie and Connor that we set aside time for a first look. If this is something that you’re wanting to incorporate during your wedding, make sure to set aside enough time, at least 15 minutes, for this. I do have to say that with the gorgeous views of the city from Hyatt House in West Loop, their first look was immaculate.

Ceremony & Reception

When we arrived at the venue, City View Loft, I was amazed at how beautifully decorated everything was. The florist, The Local Petaler, did a fantastic job with little pops of color throughout the florals around the ceremony arch. Abbie and Connor’s vibrant color palette was perfect for the space and was the right about of pop of color to make a statement but not be overwhelming.

Favorite moments from their ceremony include the ring warming tradition where the rings are passed around to every guest during the ceremony to wish their best on their marriage. The rings were tied together with a ribbon but in passing the knot got tied a little too tight… the best man needed scissors to pry those rings apart! Just another sign that Abbie and Connor truly can’t be separated haha.

The ceremony space was then turned into their reception space, and everything broke loose. Champagne toasts, speeches, and a cake so delicious I could hardly contain myself. The dance floor opened up and it essentially was free for all and I have to say that these guests know how to part-ay.

My favorite moment of the night was a fun tradition that was actually started by Abbie’s mom’s family. They play the song Bad, Bad Leroy Brown and everyone throws their shoes in a pile in the middle of the dance floor. Everyone then dances and jumps over the pile of shoes if you can believe it! Naturally, it was imperative I capture this moment and it’s safe to say, mission accomplished.

All in all, this wedding day was one for the books. A love story unlike any other and I will forever be grateful that I not only met two amazing people but made two amazing friends.
