Fall Wedding at The Joinery Chicago

Fall Wedding at The Joinery Chicago | Lisa + Nate

I can’t tell if it’s just me, but there has been an immense shift in the wedding industry. Specifically when it comes to what couples are looking for nowadays in terms of their wedding photography. Before, it was all about the prim, posed, and proper. However, more and more we have begun to shift this expectation to having more organic, raw, and documentary-style wedding photography. Lucky for me, this is my specialty! Lisa and Nate wanted to look back on their wedding day and feel every emotion of them celebrating with friends and family. With their industrial-inspired wedding venue, their Fall wedding at The Joinery Chicago embodied everything they could have ever wanted… and more!

Dating Apps + Coffee Shops = A Forever Love Story

Lisa and Nate first met on the very famous dating app, Hinge. After originally ghosting each other (don’t worry, it happens), they wound up making it happen just a few weeks later. What originally was going to be a casual coffee shop date, turned into a 10-hour adventure. It was from that moment on that they knew that this was something special.

Perfectly planned, Lisa and Nate’s wedding date is four years + one day from their original first date at the coffee shop. Knowing that, plus the fact that their wedding date fell on National Coffee Day just proves that fate truly does exist.

Chicago Wedding Event Space | The Joinery Chicago

I am no stranger to The Joinery Chicago. Another beautiful couple of mine, Jamie and Dominic, got married at this beautiful wedding space just last year! You can read all about that here.

The Joinery Chicago is an industrial-inspired wedding event space that gives couples the perfect blank canvas for their wedding day. This wedding event space offers tons of natural light and is the perfect space for an intimate wedding. It allows couples to turn the space into whatever they want it to be. Making whatever their wedding vision is, come to life. An amazing benefit of The Joinery Chicago is the fact that it is an industrial-inspired wedding event space. Being the perfect oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still maintaining all the charm and character.

With the amazing amenities that they offer such as audio/visual equipment, table and chair rentals, and a 2,400 SF gathering space, The Joinery Chicago is one of my top favorite wedding venues I recommend my couples check out.

Truly The Joinery is probably my favorite venue to photograph at and I’m so excited to have so many more weddings this year and next in this stunning space!

Fall Wedding at The Joinery Chicago with Lisa + Nate

The attention to detail that went into planning Lisa and Nate’s wedding day was unmatched. Intentionality is one of the many things I rave about when it comes to planning your wedding day, and Lisa and Nate executed it flawlessly. From the custom coffee bean bags as favors for their guests, to their custom dance floor sneakers, and finally to fat heads of their two cats I had a ball capturing the little details.

Getting Ready, First Look & Wedding Portraits

A slow morning consisted of both Lisa and Nate getting ready in their respective spaces. It was important for Lisa and Nate to have some alone time before all of the guests arrived.

So making our way to the open-space courtyard at The Joinery Chicago for their first look was our next stop on the agenda. For Lisa and Nate, utilizing the entirety of their wedding venue was key to getting the most out of their space. Especially this gorgeous outdoor courtyard which would later then turn into their cocktail hour space. We took several portraits of just the soon-to-be newlyweds along with their wedding party as guests began to arrive.

To all prospective couples reading this, it is SO worth it to keep as many events as possible in the same space. For these two other than Lisa’s getting ready space (which was next door to the venue) we stayed at the venue allllll day long and it made for such a relaxing day! We didn’t have to rush around from place to place and got to recoup so much time for relaxing instead of traveling.

Wedding Ceremony at The Joinery Chicago

As you stand in the main space of The Joinery Chicago, you will see a grand skylight beaming in tons of natural light. Ahem, which if you didn’t know… wedding photographers love! Your eye immediately jolts to the stunning ceremonial archway decorated in florals designed by Flowerchild Chicago. Perfect peach and cream tone florals decked out this arch which was the ultimate centerpiece for their wedding ceremony. Guests gathered in and were seated as the ceremony began and we led the waterworks flow out… or more like pour out.

Candlelit Dinners, Twinkling Lights, and A Choreographed First Dance

The sun began to set and guests gathered outside in the courtyard as the indoor event space was being transformed into a breathtaking reception space. With candles lighting up the tabletops, and lights twinkling above, you couldn’t help but pick your jaw up from the floor. Lisa and Nate surprised guests with a choreographed first dance that blew everyone away. The rest of the night was spent gazing at a rather romantic and intimate-style reception as we celebrated the love of Lisa and Nate.
